The Guardian published a speech of Yanis Varoufakis, the current Finance Minister of Greece, in which he shows his views on marxism and capitalism and why he wants to avoid the implosion of European capitalism “at all costs”. He is determined to learn from the Thatcher era which destroyed anti-capitalistic ambitions in Britain as a warning for all those who are, in his view, too naive in striving for socialism. It needs to be realistic and carefully analyzing the situation in Europe, he says.
Reading the speech, Varoufakis turns out to be a man who European capitalists can negotiate with. A quite important message for the European agenda.
